But there is also great choices for those who either cannot get covered due to health issues or who simply cannot afford coverage. We are going to deal with all the options here
As far as for the insurable, your choices for health insurance in Utah are plentiful. There are a number of networks available and many carriers. Your choices for carriers are as follows:

Now, what are your options if you are uninsurable due to health issues? Well, there a few different things we can get done for you. One is if you are coming off of employer coverage, you can sign up for COBRA. COBRA allows for an additonal 18 months of extended coverage from the same carrier that you currently have. All they do is switch your current employer plan into an individual plan. Since most employers cover a good portion of the monthly premiums, you will more than likely see a marked increase to your payment. Currently there is a Federal subsidy that helps defer 65% of the payment, but that isn't going to last much longer, so be careful of relying on that. The subsidy is only good for 9 months as well, so you will be paying for 9 months on your own as well. If you are disabled, you can extend your COBRA beyond the 18 months. Once you come off of COBRA and you have not received health insurance benefits from a new employer, or if you don't qualify for individual coverage, what can you do now? HIPUtah is the state run plan that is administered on a special network by SelectHealth. This guaranteed coverage for those that don't qualify elsewhere (please note that there are some qualifications for the plan that will need to be discussed). These health plans have different deductibles and also offer an HSA type plan as well. Please call us or contact us so we can go into more detail on these plans.
For those who cannot afford coverage currently, the state does offer a Medicaid plan. Because of the amount of information needed to see if you qualify, please call us so we can go into more detail.
